Cut the Line ("Cut the Line", "we", "us") runs the Cut the Line app and website, which let you book VIP sections at participating nightclubs ("clubs"), and a dashboard clubs use to manage their bookings. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. If you have questions, email support@cuttheline.club.

1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, and the email address or phone number you sign in with. You can sign in with Apple, Google or a phone number and text code. If you use Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address from them (Apple lets you hide your email).
- Booking details: the club, event, section, party size, price and time of each booking, and any upgrades or changes.
- Payment details: payments are processed by Square. We don't receive or store your full card number; we receive a payment confirmation, the card brand and the last four digits.
- Identity photos: a photo of your government-issued ID and a selfie (see section 2).
- Messages: what you send us when you contact support.
Information collected at the door
- When you arrive, club staff may photograph your physical ID and take a picture of you, and record the time you checked in.
Information collected automatically
- Basic device and usage information needed to run the app, such as your device type, app version, crash reports and sign-in sessions. We don't track your precise location.
- If you arrive through an ad or link a club shares, we may record which link or ad led to your booking, so clubs can see what's working.
2. ID photos and selfies
To book a section you add a photo of your ID (taken with your camera or chosen from your photos) and a selfie (taken with your camera). We ask for these because VIP bookings are paid in full in advance, and clubs need to confirm the person at the door is the person who booked. This also protects you and the club against fraud and disputed charges.
- Who sees them: only staff of the club you booked with, at check-in, through short-lived secure links. Other customers never see them. You can't browse past uploads in the app.
- How they're compared: door staff compare the photos with you and your physical ID by eye. We do not use facial recognition or create face templates or other biometric identifiers from your photos.
- Disputes: if a charge for your booking is disputed with your bank, the ID photo, selfie, door photos and check-in time may be shared with the club's payment processor and card network as evidence.
- Reuse: we keep your latest ID photo and selfie on your account so you don't have to add them again for every booking. You can replace them at checkout at any time.
- Deletion: door photos are deleted 120 days after the event they were taken at, and the ID photo and selfie on your account are deleted 120 days after your most recent event (the usual window for card disputes), unless an open dispute or the law requires us to keep them longer. If you delete your account, we delete them sooner, except where needed for an open dispute.
3. How we use information
- To create your account, book and confirm your section, send your ticket and confirmation, and handle upgrades, moves and refunds.
- To let the club check you in and confirm your identity at the door.
- To text or email you about your bookings, including payment links and upgrade links a club sends you.
- To prevent fraud, protect against disputed charges, and keep the service secure.
- To provide support and to improve the app.
- To send you news or offers from Cut the Line or clubs you've booked with, if you agree. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To comply with the law.
4. How we share information
We don't sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share it only as follows:
- With the club you book with: your name, phone or email, party size, booking details, ticket code and check-in status, and, at check-in, your ID photo and selfie. Each club handles this information under its own policies.
- With service providers that run Cut the Line for us: Square (payments), Supabase (hosting, database, sign-in and file storage), Twilio (text messages), Google Workspace and our email delivery provider (email), and Apple and Google (sign-in, and app distribution). They may use the information only to provide their services to us.
- For disputes, safety and the law: with payment processors and card networks for disputed charges, and with authorities when required by law or to protect someone's safety.
- Business changes: if Cut the Line is merged or sold, information may transfer to the new owner under this policy.
5. How long we keep it
- ID photos, selfies and door photos: 120 days after your most recent event (see section 2).
- Booking and payment records: as long as needed for accounting, tax and legal purposes, typically up to 7 years.
- Account details: while your account is open. When you delete it, we delete or de-identify your personal information within 30 days, except records we must keep by law.
6. Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls that limit who can see what (for example, ID photos are stored privately and released only through short-lived links), and reputable providers. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your phone and sign-in accounts protected.
7. Your choices and rights
- Access, correct or delete: you can update your name in the app, replace your ID photos at checkout, and ask us for a copy of your information or to delete your account by emailing support@cuttheline.club. Account deletion will also be available in the app.
- Marketing: unsubscribe using the link in any marketing email, or reply STOP to marketing texts. You'll still receive messages about your bookings.
- Permissions: you can turn off camera or photo access in your phone's settings, but you'll need to add ID photos to book.
- State privacy rights: depending on where you live (for example California, Colorado, Virginia, Texas and other states), you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete or get a copy of your information, and to opt out of its sale or use for targeted advertising. We don't sell personal information. To use these rights, email us; we'll verify your request and won't treat you differently for using them. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows.
8. Age requirement
Cut the Line is only for adults aged 21 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 21. If you think someone under 21 has created an account, email us and we'll delete it.
9. Club accounts
If you use the club dashboard, we collect your name, work email, your role at the club, and what you do in the dashboard (for example check-ins, moves and refunds), so we can run the service and keep a record of changes. Clubs connect their own Square accounts to get paid; Square's privacy policy covers the information it collects.
10. Changes and contact
We'll post any changes here and update the date at the top. If the changes are significant, we'll tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
